Roadie Poet: New Year’s Eve

Facebooktwitterredditpinterestlinkedinmail

New Year’s Eve.

I’m off tour.
More’s still out.
So’s Hambone.

Mom’s with Antonio.
They’re going strong.

That means
tonight
It’s just me.
Alone.

For New Year’s Eve.

Used to be,
I thought
only losers
were alone
on
New Year’s Eve.

I’m no loser.
If anything,
I’m a nomad.
A nomad
With friends
On tour.
And a mom
with
a love life.

I’ve heard it said
that
what you do on
New Year’s Eve
is
What you’ll do
All
Year
Long.

Hope that doesn’t mean
I’ll be
Alone.

All.

Year.

Long.

Aww…I’m sure Roadie Poet won’t be alone all year. We love him, so how can everyone else not love him too?

Alone all year? I don’t think so.

    An evening of reflection
    time enough
    to gather yourself
    for a year
    in motion

So many disappointments in my youth hardened me to New Year’s Eves alone. This poignant poem reflects so much the feeling I had then so very many years ago. I loved it.

Of course you won’t be alone, but what better time to write a poem. I like the ending with the single words.

I like the casual tone of this…the way it meanders through unpretentious thoughts and the the way those simple assertions point towards something bigger…I really enjoyed this!

Its just a myth or some saying that whatever you do on new years eve or day, you would be doing the same all throughout the year. So i am sure you wouldn’t be alone and you’d have a belessed and joyful new year 2012.

I think Roadie Poet needs to lay off the whiskey a little. He’ll soon be back on the road with his friends I’m sure 🙂

Great stuff Susan. Wishing you a very Happy New Year.
