BTT: Gluttony

It’s been awhile since I did a Booking Through Thursday question. I’ve been able to resist them until now…

Here’s the question:

Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?

With 526 books (not including what’s on my nightstand and in my book club bag, so 560 isn’t out of the realm of possibilities) sitting here, waiting to be read, you bet I’ve got a small book problem.

It comes from two places: one was the flood of credits and trades I got when I began online trading. I had books here that I’d kept for years, not sure how best to set them loose on the world.

And then, I won a sweepstakes, where everyone sends a book to the winner — except for the winner (who doesn’t know s/he has won until the books start arriving), who sends one to a decoy.

That was three years ago when I won that sweepstakes. I’m still working on reading those books.

*sigh*

All of you who know me from Win a Book, THIS is why I rarely enter the contests I post about! I shall get through this pile. I really shall. Granted, it was easier when I was reading 12 books a month, but … I’ll get there.

I am glad I got only 180+ un-read books. This is enough to make me crazy!

BTW, you can always pass me on a pile!

    *grin*

    Book gluttons, are we?

Yes this was a WONDERFUL question and WOW That is a LARGE pile, and you counted it!!… I do not want to count mine, as I don’t think I want to know. That could be scary and might show what a true glutton I really am without sugar coating it.
My post is here at THE BURTON REVIEW.

More than 500 books?! Oh my God. I was worried about my stack, but you’ve put me to shame! It doesn’t really bother me having so many books around, aside from the obvious space issues… I love being surrounded by books 🙂 Happy Thursday!

Instead of buying I borrow from the local library. I always borrow too many though and always have to bring back books that I haven’t read. But I keep them on my TBR list with the hope that I will borrow it again or break down and buy it!

I am a totally eyes bigger than my book belly kind of girl. I can’t resist buying books. I am trying to cut expenses right now, so I tend to order things from the library, but I am running into the same problem there. I have a pile of books I can never read by the due date.

I have about 800 unread books in my house and yet I still keep entering contests. I have no self control!

I’m a controlled buyer. I never have more than 300 in my TBR pile. But I panic if I reach for a particular genre and find nothing there.

BTW, I’m serious about the Suzie’s House thing, though I don’t know that Suzie or Drew would go. Just Vin and Miranda.

My husband and I absolutely suffer from book gluttony. We have literally thousands of books in our apartment. But they’re part of my home decor. I love looking at piles and stacks of books. What can I say?

I certainly have more books than time to read them! But it’s very comforting having books around and we do have a lot of books around!
