Buy a Friend a Book Week — our third winner!

Tonight’s winner told me a really cool story of turning 18 on the 18th and going to see (she actually admitted this!) Bryan Adams in concert!!!

What inspired me was the innocence of her story, the air of expectation she had about Mr. Adams, and the promise of magic on your birthday. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about what all that means, but all of you used to Trevor and his whiles need to reference the first noun of the first sentence in this paragraph… Innocence. I know, I know. There’s no innocence when you’re around Trevor, unless you’re Mitchell, but keep wondering what I’m talking about, at least until we find Trevor’s Song a home.

Jebbie wins a book of poetry by an author who has always struck me as having that same air of innocence and hope about her: Jewel. Yes, Jewel, the Alaskan singer with the fresh, innocent and hopeful voice. I almost didn’t let this one go; I think I’d like to get a copy for my own shelf and make the time to re-read it the right way — nice and slow, with lots of time to savor and be inspired.

Congrats, Jebbie!

It has been such a blast, I can’t tell you.BR/BR/Now you know why I wish I’d gotten more entries, huh? It’s so neat to see something so important to me through different eyes. You guys are all helping to make my writing that much richer, stronger, and better. BR/BR/I can’t thank you enough. But sending you books as thanks is my MO, you know that. And this is a great excuse to do that publicly! 😀

Oh drat.BR/BR/Today I pulled out my iPod and someone was talking to me. I turned it over and saw what I had inscribed on it:BR/BR/”Without music, life would be a mistake.”BR/BR/Drat. Drat. Drat. Wish I’d only picked this up last week and been so inspired to write you then.BR/BR/Forget Springsteen, forget Cougar, forget the Dead, forget JazzFest — while those were all memorable music events to me, it’s the little phrase inscribed on my iPod that sums up my feelings about music. Can’t live without it.BR/BR/Late to the dance again. Oh well – at least I’m beautifully bejeweled. :)BR/BR/Congrats to all the winners. I’m enjoying seeing who they are.

I inscribed my iPod (mini) with a lyric from The Corrs (oh, and my hotmail email in case it got lost or stolen)BR/Right now it’s hiding in my desk at work, but I’m pretty sure it says:BR/”In coffee city…”BR/(the rest of the line being “we borrowed heaven”)

Since Trevor’s currently at your house, ask him what color he wears to Kerri and Mitchell’s wedding… *wink*BR/BR/No, I was going to reprogram it and give it back, actually. I have the cutest little RED MP3 player by Creative Media that holds a gig of music and keeps my heart rate up at the gym, just in case the BOSU lunges don’t.

I remember… (about Trev’s shirt) ;)BR/BR/My goal is to get him back in the mail on Saturday. BR/And, if I can’t find my light blue pen, I’ll have to use the pink one because all the other colored ones have dried out.

I am praying that you’re not making lots of marks that’ll result in another two-month redo…BR/BR/Oh, and I edit in black, myself… You might have seen some of my notes. I don’t remember if there were any on that version (yet) or not…

I used to edit in red pencil, back in the old freelancing days. I still have the red lead I used in my Rotring .5 mm pencil.BR/BR/Oh, and Jebbie, I’ll be mailing your book out by the end of the week. I can only carry so much at one time!
